AssetWise ALIM Linear Referencing Services Help

Advanced Search

You can use Advanced Search to search for any record based on one or more of its attribute values.

To access Advanced Search, click the Search button on the toolbar , then click the Plus button next to the search bar that appears.

Advanced Search searches layers that are Active and Selectable. See the Active Tab topic for more information about these settings.

When the Advanced Search dialog expands you are prompted to select the layer to search from the Please Select pulldown menu.

Once the layer is selected you can define the criteria for the search.

You can include the % wildcard character in the search string in place of a character to represent any character or group of characters. For example, searching for 50% will bring up all records that begin with 50, including 501, 5001, 5011, etc. Searching for %50 would return 150, 1150, 5050, etc.

Filter By Attribute Value

Select an Attribute, Operator, and Value for each condition of the search. You can base the search on more than one attribute value; click the green Plus button on the left to add more. This adds an And/Or box to allow you to define how the composite conditions behave. If you use Add all of the defined conditions have to be met for datum(s) meeting the criteria to be returned by the search; if you use Or datum(s) meeting any of the defined criteria will be returned by the search.

You can add more attribute value filters to the search by clicking Add Group.

To Remove a condition click the red X button next to the associated condition. To Remove a group of conditions click Remove Group.

Click Reset to discard all conditions and groups.

If the Include Closed Records toggle is switched to On, closed records will also be included in the search.

Filter By Network Location

If the layer contains linearly located assets (i.e. assets that are located using a linear reference- start/end offset) the Network Filter will be available.

To add a network filter, click Add Network Filter. Type the name of the network element or extent that you want to filter by, or select it from the list. The list includes the item name/description as well as the 'type' of item (e.g. datum, route, group, extent) in case there are multiple elements with the same name but of different type.

If the item selected is a Linear Group, the Start and End Offset fields will be enabled and populated between the group's start/end chainage. The Ref Post Type field will also be enabled.

In all other cases (Non-linear groups, Group of Groups, Extents) the Start and End offset will be disabled. The Ref Post Type field will also be disabled

If the product option DEFITEMTYP is present, then the Ref Post Type dropdown will default to the Asset type as defined in the option.

If you select a Ref Post Type, the Ref Post Item textbox will be populated with the relevant asset records.

Work With Saved Searches

You can save the advanced search criteria for later reuse by clicking Save. The Save Search dialog opens, prompting you to enter a Name and a Description for the query, as well as a switch to Overwrite the existing query. Click Save. A success message appears on screen.

To Load a previously saved query select it from the Load menu at the center top of the Advanced Search dialog.

To delete a previously saved query select it from the Load menu and click the Remove button. You will be prompted to confirm the delete.
